A man from Sydney has died from a prolonged form of erectile dysfunction.
The Australian Institute of Health and Welfare's report says it is believed that he had been suffering from "a prolonged period of depression, anxiety, sleep apnoea and fatigue".
The report was published on Wednesday.
The man from Sydney's Central North West, who was found dead at his home in a remote area in NSW, said the condition was "very distressing".
He said he had suffered from the feeling of "being unable to sustain an erection" for three months. He said: "After a week I could barely get an erection. I had the loss of an erection."
He said he had a "loss of sex drive", and had been experiencing "irritability", but that he had been taking the drug Viagra. He said the man had not been told about his condition.
The report said the man died from the "hormonal imbalance" due to his age, although his mother was not involved in the death. He had suffered from erectile dysfunction at some point since he was found dead in his family room by his grandmother, the first husband, the next father, and the next brother.
The NSW Department of Health said that the woman's death could be linked to a serious medical condition which affects the male reproductive system.
It said a "very severe form of depression" was not thought to be related to the man's age but could be related to other medical conditions. The department advised men aged 18 and over to report any concerns to NSW sexual health services.
A woman was last seen in Sydney on March 12, having been found dead with an erection on April 4.
In his statement, Mr Peter MacGilliam said the death had been caused "by an abnormal hormonal imbalance" which could be "severely distressing and potentially fatal".
He added: "I do not believe the woman was the cause of her death.
"I am in complete shock."
The report said the woman had suffered a prolonged "inability to have sex for a long time" and had "a lack of sexual satisfaction" which had "showed a rapid deterioration of her sexual function".
She said: "The patient had been having problems for a long time and it has been difficult to find an erection. The condition could be related to the age of the patient, the depression and anxiety she had been suffering from."
She said the woman had "a very distressing nature".
She added: "The patient had no sexual pleasure and was unable to have an erection for a long time."
The report said the death had been caused by a prolonged "inability to have sex for a long time" and had "a lack of sexual satisfaction".
It said that the woman had been suffering from "a mental/mood imbalance".
She said she had suffered from "a chronic state of depression" as a result of her "depression".
She said the woman had "a loss of interest in sex and made a "disappointment in a relationship".
She added: "The patient was in a "difficult and difficult relationship" with her marriage.
